28-3-2013 In 28.03.2013 reopened the reconstructed synagogue in Akko in a very joyful and festive atmosphere. Much effort was invested in organizing and preparing the synagogue for the arrival of distinguished guests like important people of Georgian community who came from all over the country, members of Knesset, rabbis, foreign guests and residents of different communities of the city.
Two well-known philanthropists in the community - the President of the World Congress of Georgian Jews - Mr. Gabriel Mirilashvili and Chairman of the Association - a known businessman Mr. Joske Mamistwalov took on the work of reconstruction and renewal of the synagogue, which was dedicated to the memory of their ancestors - Michael Mirilashvili (z) and Herzl Mamistwalov (z).
The new name, which was given to the synagogue - "Shevet Ackim" is a symbol of unity and loyalty among brothers.
We would like to sincerely thank the dear people who invested their money and their time in organizing this event - Gabriel Mirilashvili, Joske Mamistwalov and Aaron Shmallshvilli - thank you so much for the joy you planted in our hearts!
Mr. Mirilashvili and Mr. Mamistvalov also gave a new Torah scroll to the synagogue. It was a very special day, because of sadness and happiness that came side by side and it will stay in our hearts for a very long time.
